In our aged care homes

Respite care in mecwacare’s aged care homes offers short breaks and independence for clients and their carers.

Respite care is best suited for people who are looking for continuous care in a supportive environment.

Respite guests receive the same level of care and access to the same range of services as our permanent residents. They also have their own room and ensuite bathroom.

Residents and their families will enjoy peace of mind, with registered nurses rostered on every shift, in a safe and welcoming environment, with fresh nutritious meals cooked fresh daily by on-site chefs.

Should we include something about subsidised respite care?

In your community

Find support in your local community

Respite care is available at mecwacare’s day centres and in the community. This includes social support activity groups that provide a variety of engaging and rewarding programs and activities that cater to older people, people with dementia and people living with a disability.

mecwacare provides a carers’ support program in our three day centres in East Malvern , Pakenham and Cowes (Phillip Island).

Carers can share experiences, exchange ideas, develop networks and listen to guest speakers who will offer advice, valuable information and links to other services.

We understand that the role of a carer can be challenging, and this support program provides an opportunity to meet like-minded people in a relaxed environment.

These support programs are very popular and available for carers who live in these areas.
