Social Support Groups
Activity groups provide an opportunity for people to connect with their peers and community in a fun and social setting. Programs offer the opportunity to participate in a variety of engaging and rewarding activities at our day centre and in the out community.
Who Can Join: Services are available for people under CHSP, NDIS, HACC PYP and private funding.
When:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10am to 3pm. (CHSP and private funding).
- Fridays from 10am to 3pm (NDIS funding).
Strength training
Strength training helps you regain and maintain muscle strength, as well as improve balance, flexibility, bone density and coordination. It can also reduce the risk of falls while increasing your confidence and wellbeing.
As part of mecwacare’s strength training program, our trained staff and a qualified fitness instructor design progressive training to suit your existing fitness level. Your progress is regularly monitored throughout the program.
Who can join: People who live in the Shire of Cardinia and surrounding areas and are over the age of 65 (CHSP and private funding).
When and where:
- Every Tuesday from 10am to 11am and 1pm to 2pm at Rivendell House, 8 Henry Street, Pakenham.
- Every Thursday from 10am to 11am and 1pm to 2pm at the Garfield Community Centre, 2 Beswick Street, Garfield.
Cost: There is a small cost to participate in this.
Woodwork in the Men’s Shed
mecwacare’s Woodwork program is based in the Men’s Shed at Rivendell House in Pakenham in a supported environment. Clients can work together and complete group woodwork projects or work on their own individual project.
Who can join: People who live in the Shire of Cardinia and surrounding areas (CHSP or private funding).
When: Every Wednesday 1pm to 4pm.
Banksia Group
mecwacare’s Banksia Group in an outings-based group and provides the opportunity for those who like to get out an about the chance to engage and participate in their local and surrounding communities. Activities and locations vary each week.
Who can join: People who live in the Shire of Cardinia and surrounding areas and are over the age of 65 (CHSP and private funding).
When: Tuesdays from 10am to 3pm
