Social Support Group
Our Social Support group offers a broad range of activities including gentle exercises, guest speakers, socialisation, games, quizzes and arts and crafts activities. Outing groups are also available enabling clients to engage and participate in their local and surrounding communities.
Who can join? People who live on Phillip Island, San Remo or surrounding areas and are over the age of 65 not receiving a Home Care Package.

When?
- Monday: outing group from 9.00 am to 4.00pm*
- Tuesday: hall-based group from 10.00am to 3.00pm
- Wednesday: hall-based group from 10.00am to 3.00pm
- Thursday: outing group from 9.00am to 4.00pm*
Where: Phillip Island Senior Citizens, 6 Lions Court, Cowes (Phillip Island).
* Participants are picked up from home for outing groups.
Carer Support Group
mecwacare’s carers’ support group provides education, support, and opportunities for carers to meet, socialise, and support each other in their caring role.
This group understands how difficult the role of a carer can be.
Come and share your experiences, exchange ideas, develop networks, build friendships, and be informed by guest speakers who will offer advice, valuable information, and links to services.
Our Bass Coast Carers’ Program includes the following activities:
- Carers’ workshops and relevant issues, such as Carers Victoria workshops, navigating the aged care system, useful technology, process for accessing residential aged care
- Monthly carers’ coffee morning teas on the last Tuesday of each month
- Monthly carers’ social activities, such as trips to Melbourne, movies, lunches, and gardening
- Continuous support and regular contact through phone calls and emails
Who can join? The carers group is available to any carers in the Bass Coast Area.
