mecwacare fosters thoughtful, respectful and ethical interactions and relationships to ensure resident and client experiences are rich and rewarding.

Through openness in communication, residents and clients, their families and representatives, and staff and volunteers are encouraged to discuss issues and concerns. Our staff and volunteers are supported to assist, guide and engender trust, and residents and clients are encouraged to gain the greatest level of independence and be as actively involved in decision making as they can.

An extensive building and refurbishment program ensures we provide modern, well-appointed and comfortable environments where resident, client, staff and volunteer comfort and safety are paramount. We support our staff to be well trained and accountable, with ongoing learning and development a strong part of our culture, embedding best practice into our systems and processes.

We work with individuals, families, communities, and all levels of government and other key stakeholders to support and provide care for people in their home, including aged care homes, in community housing, or in their local community.

Over 64 years of experience means we are well placed to provide care services that are responsive to the needs and preferences of our residents and clients.

Model of Care and Services

Our residents and clients are at the centre of everything we do.

mecwacare provides care and services based on respect for the diversity and safety of all. We provide person-centred care with a focus on the needs, preferences, knowledge and outcomes relevant to residents and clients. They are a partner in their personalised assessment, goal setting, care planning and evaluation, and decision making.

Our model of care has a strong clinical focus, with registered nurses and enrolled nurses employed across all aspects of our services, including aged care homes, in-home care and in home care packages, as well as in the quality and risk department, learning and development team, and clinical technology and project areas.

mecwacare is an inclusive organisation that respects client and resident choices in the provision of care and services, in supportive environments that are responsive to the values important to them. The preferences of our clients and residents are central to care planning and delivery, enabling a flexible and responsive transition through our services.

Innovation and Technology

mecwacare is actively engaged in the use and implementation of technology solutions to assist us to provide assessment, care and support for our residents and clients. We are proud of the diversity of our residents, clients and staff, and we understand the inclusive nature of technology in relation to enhancing wellbeing, and improving independence, communication and quality of life.

mecwacare is committed to investing in technology and supports government initiatives such as the National Broadband Network, eHealth and TeleHealth. We continue to work with key partners on the adoption of new technologies to ensure our clients benefit from accurate data gathering, timely information, and the best in available resources.

Charter of Aged Care Rights

The Charter of Aged Care Rights protects the rights of people receiving aged care. It applies to all aged care services that are funded by the Australian Government and is made in law.
